The Five Pillars of Islam are the fundamental religious practices that are considered obligatory for all Muslims.These pillars are


Profession of Faith (shahada)

The declaration of faith in the oneness of God and the acceptance of Muhammad as his messenger.This is the most important pillar of Islam and is the foundation of the religion.

Salah:

The obligatory daily prayers that Muslims must perform five times a day. These prayers are performed at specific times throughout the day and involve specific physical movements and recitation of verses from the Quran.

Zakat:

The giving of alms or charity to the poor and needy. Muslims are required to give a portion of their wealth (usually 2.5%) to those in need, as a way of purifying their wealth and helping those less fortunate.


Fasting ( sawn)

Fasting during the month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims are required to abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs from sunrise until sunset during this month as a way of purifying the soul and focusing on spiritual matters.

Hajj:

The pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which all able-bodied and financially capable Muslims are required to perform at least once in their lifetime. The pilgrimage takes place during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah and involves a series of rituals and ceremonies at various holy sites in and around Mecca.
